Frequently asked
How do I record a transaction? Three ways: type it manually
in the app, paste the bank message's text and TWAZ reads the amount, merchant
and date from it, or turn on an Apple Shortcuts automation once to record your
bank's messages automatically — search Shortcuts for the "Add a transaction
from a bank message" action.
Why doesn't TWAZ read my messages directly? It cannot, and
doesn't try to. You build and control the automation yourself in Apple's
Shortcuts app, and it is what hands the matching message's text to TWAZ — TWAZ
never reaches into your Messages inbox.
The widget isn't updating? It updates automatically after
each new transaction. Try opening the app once if it hasn't moved.
A foreign-currency transaction shows as pending? That's
expected — it stays pending, and out of today's number, until your bank's
settled amount arrives or you confirm it yourself.
Your data: deleting, backing up, and moving to a new iPhone
TWAZ keeps your data on your iPhone, encrypted. There is no TWAZ account or
sign-in, and TWAZ holds no copy of your financial data. Everything about your
data is in your hands, inside the app and on your iPhone.
Deleting your data from this iPhone
- You can delete any single transaction inside the app.
-
This version has no single button that deletes everything from inside the
app. Deleting the TWAZ app from your iPhone deletes the TWAZ data stored on
it.
-
TWAZ data is not part of your iPhone's general backups (an iCloud or
computer backup of the device), so it does not come back from them.
-
If you turned on iCloud Backup, delete the backup first, using the steps
below — deleting the app does not delete the copy saved in iCloud.
iCloud Backup (optional)
-
Off by default. Turn it on in Account › Privacy and security › iCloud
Backup.
-
It saves an encrypted copy of your in-app financial records and settings in
your own iCloud. It needs an iCloud account on the device, with iCloud
Keychain turned on.
-
"Turn off backup" only stops future backups; the copy already saved in
iCloud stays where it is.
-
"Delete backup from iCloud" permanently removes the saved copy, and deletes
nothing on your iPhone.
-
If backup is still on after you delete, TWAZ saves a new copy the next time
it backs up. To delete the backup and keep it gone: tap "Delete backup from
iCloud", then "Turn off backup" on the same screen, before leaving the app.
Moving to a new iPhone, or reinstalling
-
Your data moves only if iCloud Backup was on beforehand. Without it there is
no way to move it: it is not in your iPhone's backups, and TWAZ does not
have it.
-
On the new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple Account, make sure iCloud and
iCloud Keychain are on, then install TWAZ.
-
The first time you open it, if TWAZ finds a saved backup it offers "Restore
my data" or "Start fresh", and restores nothing until you choose.
-
You can also restore later from Account › Privacy and security › iCloud
Backup › Restore a backup. Restoring replaces the data on this iPhone with
the saved backup, and cannot be undone.
-
Your Shortcuts automation for bank messages is not part of the TWAZ backup;
check it exists on the new iPhone, or set it up again.
What TWAZ support can and cannot do
Because TWAZ has no accounts, keeps no copy of your financial data, and cannot
reach your iCloud backup, support cannot see, recover or delete your financial
data for you. Deleting and restoring are in your hands, using the steps above
— and we're happy to walk you through them.
All we receive is what you email us. How long support messages are kept is set
